Crocheted Jewlery

When you think of crochet, what’s the first thing that enters your mind? Baby bonnets and blankets, eh? Well, times have changed and so has the artistic rendering of crochet. Take the unusual works of Melanie Miguel who has with great dexterity created jewelry by merging her love of needlework with jewelry-making through crochet.

She uses wire threads made of precious metals such as 14k gold or sterling silver.

Her silver crochet necklace is my favorite – you would feel like a princess wearing this piece on your wedding day – it would also be amazing in gold, then you could match it up with that pretty gold bridesmaid dress mentioned in a previous post. Since her creations are all produced by hand, she accepts orders by phone or email. Besides jewelry, Melanie can do some pretty neat things with stone and clay as seen by her sculptures.
