Should she really be prosecuted and sent to the slammer?

Nobody ever went to jail for abandoning their fiancĂ© at the altar, but in the case of the runaway bride from Georgia making false statements about one’s own kidnapping certainly warrants some form of punishment. There are some that argue that she should serve some jail time; however, if you examine her mental and emotional condition into consideration, some will say that she really needs serious help especially since she has already broken an engagement before and was charged with shoplifting at a mall.

The interesting aspect of this all is what were her parents thinking of while planning such as elaborate wedding, while having prior knowledge that she had ditched her previous fiancĂ©. They really concealed that part of the story pretty darn well. This brings me to think that perhaps there should be some form pre-wedding agreement – sort of like a – prenup wherein if one should get cold feet even before the actual wedding that they are liable for damages – i.e., paying up for the wedding. Such an agreement/contract would have to make certain detailed assumptions so as it would be fair both the bride and groom to recover from cost of the wedding.

Many people may argue that she should go to jail for creating such a big mess, but there are also some compassionate people who will say that she really needs to seek the help of a professional. Judging from her prior history, what it appears is that this person has a lot of issues stemming from her parents to her own sense of self-esteem. It will be very interesting to see how this all ends up.

When two is better than one as long as....

It is very ironic that in a country where wedding costs can run into the $200K and more, that having a fling is just a regular thing?! Why? Perhaps it's because many Indian marriages are arranged?

Tea anyone?

Show your respect by serving tea to your future in-laws. That ladies and gentleman is the well-known “The Chinese Tea Ceremony”. In what often turns out to be an elaborate ceremony especially in traditional Chinese families, lavish gifts such as money and jewelry are bestowed to the bride and groom.

To some, it is a truly important tradition, but to others the act of serving tea in this type of arrangement just seems plain ridiculous. Perhaps it is the process of pouring tea into a cup and presenting it in a subservient manner that leads less conservative couples to forgo the event altogether. Or, is it the superficial element that serving tea is supposed to signify respect? To agree with the latter may seem rude, but do you really have to exercise respect in such a fashion?

Ruff ruff -<##))#>

A case of double standard is in question. Ever attend a doggie wedding? So, this is a bit extreme. Yes, it is arguably not legally binding. The point is that why should same sex marriage be viewed with so much resistance.

C'mon - isn't it about time..

Advances in society from technological to social reform have made great changes to our generation. Why is it, I ask that makes same sex marriage such an appalling arrangement. Is it due to the fear that children of such couples will harbor the same values – thus spelling doom for a heterogeneous society? C’mon! One word sums this whole thing up - tolerance.

To sign or not to sign - that is the question...

Prenups – is it de rigeur for the modern day bride and groom? What comes to mind when Hollywood celebs and business moguls have tied the knot in lavish weddings, but deep within the fanfare lies a document called a pre-nuptial agreement. Viewed as a safe way to divorce or as an insurance policy against personal bankruptcy from a bitter spouse? Or, is it just the “in thing” since just about 1 in 3 couples I know have split, though it would be interesting to know the exact numbers.

For richer or poorer?

Personalization brought to the next level. Some people want just the right color, theme, or etc., when gettin' hitched, but exchanging badges of Chairman Mao brings it to new heights. It's personal, but definitely redefined!Kudos, indeed!

If it happened to you

It's been long overdue. To see them finally marry. To see the innocent smile of Mary Kay. To see them finally together - beyond everyone's expections. What is it in today's society that first held them in such disgust only to embrace them. Whether opposites attract that is another issue, but all in all, perhaps there's a hypocrite in everyone unless it happens to you.
