3D Grooms Cakes

I couldn't help but just laugh when I decided to post about 3D cakes. They're a whimsical way to really bring out the grooms cake! Who would have thought that planning this cake could be so much fun. Even more fun than probably picking out the wedding cake itself. Imagine. You can not only be adventurous with the design of the cake, but also with the flavors of the cake, too. Think all out chocolate, peanut butter, or even flavors infused with liqueur! Oh yum! Some of my favorites:

Sedona Sweet Arts Bakery - this is just too funny!

Michelle Cakes from the UK - this girl is good

Sweet Rewards - this guitar cake is amazing

groom's cakes

Let's have fun with groom's cakes! I actually find them to be more interesting than wedding cakes because you can have so much imagination and creativity with them. My personal favorites are:

Basketball Groomsmen Cakes

Since it is March Madness, I'd thought that some basketball-inspired groomsmen cakes would be a great idea especially for the groom who can't get enough of college hoops. As you'll see several of these cakes use the color orange for the ball (obviously), so the challenge is creating one that doesn't take away from the elegance of the wedding. And don't forget, you can even have the cake carry the name and mascot of your alma mater.

Go Wild with a Vegas Themed Groom's Cake

I've always found that coming with a theme for a groom's cake is one of the most fun parts of planning a wedding. It's a chance to be wacky and whimsical. Since it seems like Vegas themes have been extremely popular lately, it would be only natural to find inspiration for a poker-themed groom's cake.

I found two very cool ones below:

There are other themes that you can incorporate if you don't want to look like a complete high-roller. How about using a giant-sized rolling dice, a skyline of Vegas, a slot machine, or the welcome sign to vegas? A big giant gold coin cake would also make a statement. Hmm. Perhaps too much of a statement, but I think it would certainly top the whimsical list.
