Crepe wedding cake

If you have ever tried a French crepe cake, then you are lucky! It's to die for! I tried it once at a tea party for my sister-in-law and it was delish. You can even have it in chocolate, which is my favorite. Take it as a wedding cake and guests are in for a real treat that is different:

"Take Two" Kickoff

Announcing! Here's my attempt at organizing my blog for the new year, by offering you two nuggets of wedding inspiration to take away with you per post. Hence, "take two"!

At the moment, I'm still suffering from "pre-spring fever." So anything with an air of freshness that has been worked into a wedding is sure to catch my eye. Take these two lovely ideas: an elegant cake embraced by wildflower vines and berry clusters, and fresh fruit centerpieces in the most irresistible colors. Now, aren't you just dying to work these into your spring wedding?

Carrot Cake Wedding Cake So Yummy

I love cake especially when you can have your take of vegetables. Huh? It's carrot cake I'm talking about. While not everyone is fan of carrot cake, I personally think it's a great flavor for a wedding cake. But, if you are not a fan of carrot cake, at least there are many other options. Check out Wilton's site for more recipes! And if you're still looking for a carrot cake recipe, try this recipe that uses white chocolate icing. YUM!

As for the design of the cake, this design would simply take the cake! Don't you just love the pretty daisies. So cute.

Wedding cake alternatives that you can try yourself

I'm really excited to talk about cookies! Specifically, wedding cookies because they are a great option for a couple that doesn't want to spend a lot on their wedding cake, but want to give something special for guests to enjoy at the wedding. So, I'll be sharing some fun wedding cake alternatives, which you may actually do yourself!

as you can see here, when you have little cookies each separated by icing. You can instantly have something sweet and attractive for guests. If you can find a delicious recipe for butter cookies and learn how to apply the icing, then you can actually save your budget. This idea would also be great as dessert at a bridal shower party. Oh yummy!

yes, these are some of the easiest treats that you can create. All you need is ample time and planning to make a batch for your guests. Now, if you plan to make 50 or more of these puppies, I suggest you plan way way ahead to retain your sanity and to assure that your cupcakes look cute as a button. Personalize them by adding a sugar accent that follows your theme or add some colorful sugar sprinkles. When using white icing, a little red sugar crystals, adds a beautiful and chic accent!

I think it's best to say that when thinking of individualized cakes for your guests, that a small guest list is in your horizon. When opting for this cool creations, try serving up 2-3 different flavors so that guests can be in for a big surprise. I suggest strawberries and cream, carrot cake, and of course, chocolate!

The Saga Continues with Pink Wedding Cakes

I'll be continuing my pink wedding coverage since it seems somewhat addictive at this point. Therefore, it's time for pink wedding cakes as the inspiration today! Of course, these cakes make my favorites' list:

Giant Cupcakes

I'm just hooked on the idea of giant cupcakes! If you're already a fanatic of cupcakes, then these giant ones just made things a whole lot more fun. You can actually get giant cupcake pans at Target, too! They're great as a whimsical groom's cake or as a wedding cake with a fun look. The great part is that they can be made with fillings inside as well.

Fake Wedding Cakes - Trend?

When I first heard about fake wedding cakes, it was actually at a Chinese wedding of my former roommate in college. I kept wondering to myself how come they didn't serve any cake at the wedding. Later on, I asked my friend what happened to the cake. Was it that bad of a cake I asked her? No, it's a rental. Actually, it was made of styrofoam and make to look like a real cake. With that though, I realized that cake rentals are only now beginning to become more noticeable simply because of how many couples want to save on their weddings. And when you considering the current economy, the budget on some weddings just got tighter this year. I guess that makes two things now to rent: the groom' tux and the cake. So, what do you serve instead of cake? Ice cream? Just look at the pictures from cakerental.com and you won't believe that these cakes are not real. Would you ever consider this kind of cake? I don't think I would, but that's just me. I think you can still find cheaper cakes elsewhere even it means having a smaller one. I heard that Costco sells cakes, too. Would you try that?

Chocolate fondant wedding cakes

Chocolate – the color is making its way as the cool color for wedding cakes. When I saw the chocolate fondant cake by Elisa Strauss on Foodtv, I must say that I was hooked. It is when you pair chocolate brown with a color like peach, apple green, turquoise, purple, and magenta, that the color truly comes out. It is pretty much something that you either like or don’t like probably because it is too dark for some, while other brides just gotta have it. I guess it’s because it may seem a bit too “masculine” – like something you’d reserve for the groom’s cake. But, surprisingly, it is quite remarkable of a color for a wedding cake. I’m just wondering right now as to how many of you out there would want this type of cake, since it isn't for everyone. Still unsure? Check out these sites for some fab ideas:

Gold leaf for wedding cakes

Something bright, something golden. An edible gold leaf wedding cake is so decorative and unique. It's a great choice when you have a wedding color palette with gold and ivory. Or, try it with red, orange, and brown. Some of these cakes below feature the different ways that gold leaf can be used to decorate cakes:
